William Robert "Bob" Walker

Peacefully with his loving wife by his side, at Gateway Haven in Wiarton on Friday, May 9, 2025. Born in Toronto on Monday, August 4, 1930, William Robert “Bob” Walker, was in his 95th year.
Beloved husband and best friend of Susan Walker (nèe Westcott) for almost 66 years. Much loved father of Beth (Bob 2019) and Allan (Michele), all of Owen Sound. He will be sadly missed by his grandchildren Kent (Merissa) of Ottawa, Keltan of Vancouver, and Jason (Courtney) and great grandchild Noah of Barrie. Fondly remembered by his sisters Elizabeth of New Hamburg, Rod (Tim) of Sauble Beach, and Mary-Jane (Grant) of Mississauga. Bob will also be missed by his nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Bob was the last of the original staff to retire from the former West Hill Secondary School where he was the Technical Director, Woodworking Instructor and Drivers’ Education Co-ordinator. After retiring, Bob was a member of the Board of Owen Sound Municipal Non-Profit Housing Corporation for 34 years. He was passionate about model railroading, antique cars (especially his 1938 DeSoto Rumble Seat Coupe) and flying. Bob achieved a lifelong goal of getting his private pilot’s license at the age of 78! In his spare time, he enjoyed travelling, including family camping trips when he was younger and cruising in his later years. Although outwardly stern, as his nickname ‘SARGE’ would suggest, he was a very kind and generous man who quietly helped many.
We will be forever grateful for the compassionate care shown to Bob and our family by the staff on the 6th floor of Brightshores Health System Owen Sound and at Gateway Haven in Wiarton. He will be greatly missed.
A graveside service will be held for Bob at Greenwood Cemetery, 190 1stSt. SW, Owen Sound, on Saturday, May 17, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Mary Farmer officiating. Reception to follow at the Brian E. Wood Funeral Home, Owen Sound, 519-376-7492.
