Vera Margaret Beaton (Vessie), peacefully in her home on Tuesday, September 26, 2023 in her 97th year. S
he is reunited with her beloved husband of 30 years who preceded her in 1988, the late John Emerson Beaton. Loving mother of Glenn (Cynthia) of Big Bay and Thelma (David) Burritt of Peterborough. Grandmother to Matthew and Emily Burritt. Vera was the daughter to the late Earl and Annie Vessie.
She will be missed by her surviving family: Keith and Donna Vessie, Elva Vessie, Gail Vessie as well as many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by her siblings: Marjorie Irvin, Gordon, Ethel Boyce, Melvin, Elgin, Dearl, Norman, Hazel Duncan and Benjamin.
Vera was a devoted farmers wife. Her hands were never idle. She showed love to her family by canning and preserving food from her garden, baking pies, and sewing, quilting, crocheting and knitting many items.
Vera was a member of Cedarside and Glenelg Baptist Churches as well as the United Farm Women of Ontario’s Holdfast Club in Grey County.
The family will receive friends at the Glenelg Baptist Church on Saturday, September 30 from 1:00pm until the time of service at 2:00pm. Interment McNeil Cemetery, Priceville.
