Scott passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at Brightshores Health System, Owen Sound on Thursday, April 23, 2026 in his 62nd year. He will be forever remembered by Denise, his wife and best friend of 35 years. Loving dad of Angus and his wife Elisa, Emily, and Molly and her husband Austin Kuhl. Proud Papa of Hank. Dear brother of the late Brenda and her husband Jonathon Shaw. Beloved son-in-law of John and Doris van Trigt. Dear brother-in-law of Steve van Trigt and his wife Carmen. Fun-loving uncle to Amanda Shaw, Adam Shaw and his wife Michelle and their children Bria and Harrison Scott, Laura Shaw, Victoria Shaw, Sophia van Trigt, and Nadia van Trigt. Loving son of the late Angus and Marion Hilts, and stepson of Gene Hilts.

He dedicated the first twelve and a half years of his career caring for youth in need as the director of Hope Manor. He then moved on to building up the IT security program at Bruce Power until his partial retirement.

He was someone who touched the hearts of people the world over. He was quick to make friends and his integrity never faltered. His generosity toward others was rivaled only by the count of his many hobbies. Few others his age invested so much into sock monkeys. The cornerstone of all this was his deep and enduring love for his family. He will be dearly be missed by countless colleagues, friends, and family.
