Passed away suddenly at South Bruce Grey Health Centre in Durham on Sunday, October 26, 2025. Born in Kitchener on Wednesday, October 24, 1951, Samuel Robert Luckhardt of Owen Sound, was in his 75th year.

Beloved husband and best friend of Kathie Luckhardt (nèe Roberts). Proud father of Michelle Froese (Allan) and Jeff Luckhardt (Holly Smith). Treasured grandfather of Madison and Colton Froese. Dear brother of Peter Luckhardt (Gail), John Luckhardt (Elaine), James Luckhardt (Nancy), Valerie Wilton (Craig), Mark Luckhardt (Mary) and Heather Padfield (Kent), and brother-in-law of Dave Roberts (Debbie), Barb Arthur (Vic), Paul Roberts (Sue), Mavis Beckett (John), Janice Ludlow (Greg), Mike Roberts (Laurie), and Larry McDonald. Sam will also be missed by his nieces, nephews, and many friends.

Predeceased by his parents Stuart and Betty Luckhardt, his parents-in-law John and Violet Roberts, and his sisters-in-law Susan McDonald and Donna Roberts.

Sam’s life was defined by his unwavering love of family, his passion for farming, and his steadfast commitment to community service. Over the years, he proudly served as a council member for Sydenham Township and the Municipality of Meaford, where his leadership, integrity, and compassion left a lasting impact on all who knew him.
A man dedicated to the land and to those who worked it, Sam was a long-time board member of both Huron Bay and Midwest Co-op, where he shared his wisdom and experience to support local agriculture and rural life.

Outside of his professional and civic commitments, Sam was known for his love of sports and community spirit. He could often be found watching his grandchildren playing hockey online. An avid Owen Sound Attack fan, he held season tickets since 1990, cheering passionately from the stands year after year. He was also a proud past president of the Blue Water Curling Club, where he found joy, friendship, and countless memories on and off the ice.

Memorial visitation will be held at Brian E. Wood Funeral Home, 250 14th St. W. Owen Sound, 519-376-7492, on Sunday, November 2, 2025 from 1-3 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. There will be a private family service held to celebrate Sam’s life.
