Peacefully, on Saturday, June 6, 2026 at Huron Shores Hospice, Tiverton in his 78th year. Scruff, dear brother of Saskia and her husband Jim McHugh, and brother-in-law of Patricia. Step-father to Tracy, Michael (Melonie) and Papa Scruff to 4 grandchildren. Loving uncle of Michael (Melissa), Travis, Casey (Alys), Josie (Keith), Kristie (Eric), Adrian (Jess), Lucas (Jesse), Ben and many great nieces and nephews. Dear friend of Lauren Barefoot. Predeceased by his parents Adrianus Claeren and Hubertine (nee Salters), brothers Henri, George, and Patrick, and sisters Ingrid and Michelle.

Scruff was a longtime resident and known for his master carpentry. He was also heavily involved in community events like Pumpkin Fest and the SPN Slow Pitch teams.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, June 22,2026 at 1:00pm at Sanctuary Park Cemetery, Port Elgin.

Memorial donations to the Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus Association of Canada would be appreciated by the family.
