With deep love and fond remembrance, we announce the peaceful passing of Patricia Knox, aged 84, on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, surrounded by family and the garden she so lovingly tended.
Born in England on July 19, 1940, she was a daughter of the late Victor and Elsie (nee Chapple) Shepstone.
Patricia was a devoted mother to Robert, James, and Virginia, and a proud grandmother who brought warmth and joy into the lives of her grandchildren. Her life was marked by resilience, love, and a boundless energy that remained with her to the very end.
Patricia was the beloved widow of Robert Douglas Knox, and later found renewed happiness with her cherished husband Tom Ross, with whom she shared many joyful years. Together, they cultivated a life filled with laughter, music, and mutual devotion.
In her early years in Canada, she and her husband Robert Knox owned a General Store in Southgate before becoming a school teacher and later a bank teller. She had a way of making money go further than most could. This was something that was very important to her, and she appreciated things that many took for granted.
Patricia found her true freedom while travelling; from California to British Columbia and most recently New Zealand, she loved an adventure. An avid gardener, Patricia’s hands were seldom still—whether planting blooms, pulling weeds, or harvesting vegetables. Her garden was a reflection of her spirit: vibrant, nurturing, and full of life. She also found great joy in music, singing in the choir and ringing the church bells with dedication and delight. Her unwavering kindness, infectious enthusiasm, and deep love for her family and community will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew her.
A service celebrating Patricia’s life will be conducted at Knox Presbyterian Church in Meaford on Friday, July 25, 2025 at 11 o’clock, with a reception following.
