Peacefully at Southbridge Care Home, with family members by her side, on Wednesday, September 16, 2026. Born in Hamilton on May 1, 1925, Marie Agnes Cruikshank (nee Sullivan) of Owen Sound was in her 102nd year.
Beloved wife of the late Ross Cruikshank. Loving mother of Erin (Jim), Shannon (Marven), Kathleen, Kerry (Wally), Noreen (Terry), Dean, and Melanie. Cherished Grandma of Christine, Shawn, Michelle, Becky, Amy, Katie, Holly, Shawn, Daniel, Stephanie, Emily, and Allicyn. Proud great-grandma of Quinn, Sarah, Sebastian, Gabe, Inessa, Kyla, Benjamin, Lucas, Maggie, Satine, Cinnia, Story, Greyson, Finley, Milo, Autumn, Johnny, Imogen, Georgia, Ella, Jagger, and Frankie. Marie will be missed by her son-in-law Pat Greene, nieces, nephews and friends.
Predeceased by her children Colleen Greene, Jeff Cruikshank, Ross Cruikshank, by her siblings Joanne, Dean, Clare, and by her brothers-in-law Glen Cruikshank, and Lorne Cruikshank.
Marie’s life was defined by a beautiful, enduring love story that began in Hamilton, where she met her beloved husband, Ross, while roller-skating. What started as a chance encounter blossomed into an eternal love, leading to a remarkable 77 years of marriage and a vibrant family of 10 children. Marie’s devotion to her family was the cornerstone of her life, and her legacy lives on through the generations she nurtured.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the many friends and relatives whose visits and support brought Marie great joy. We would also like to express our sincere appreciation to the exceptional staff at Southbridge for the profound care, kindness, and compassion shown to Marie.
Visitation will be held at Brian E. Wood Funeral Home, 250 14th St. W., Owen Sound, 519-376-7492, on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary’s & The Missions Catholic Church, 554 15th St. E., Owen Sound, on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery followed by a reception at the church.
