Margaret Ellen Jefferson (nee Hunter) February 27, 1945- May 15, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Margaret (Hunter) Jefferson, beloved wife of Donald Jefferson, who left this world peacefully on Thursday May 15th, 2025. Marg embraced a life rooted in simplicity, love, and laughter. A true homebody at heart, she found joy in the simple pleasures. Her hands were rarely still, often busy with knitting needles, specializing in dishcloths (in her later life) to give to those she loved. Her kitchen was always filled with the comforting scents of fresh strawberry jam in summer and warm apple pies in fall.
Her spirit lit up in the presence of old Western music, a good dance floor and the Wheel of Fortune machine at the casino. Her laughter, with its signature snort, was infectious and unforgettable. Above all, Marg adored her family and friends.
Born to the late Ileen and Harold Hunter, Marg was one of seven siblings: Marion (predeceased; Aub), Paul (Karen, predeceased), Ron (predeceased), Bill (Linda, predeceased)(Suzanne), Bruce (predeceased), and Lynda (Lawry). She was the proud mother of three children: Fred (Michelle), Kim, and step-son Stephen (Michelle), loving grandmother of six: Jessica, Gregory (Christine), Taylor, Isaac (Carlie), Payton and Abbey, and cherished great-grandmother of five: Jace, Haillie, Jayden, Cooper, and Blair. Her legacy will live on in the many lives she touched. In honouring her life, we celebrate a woman who never needed extravagance to shine—her warmth, humour, and love were more than enough.
A Celebration of Marg will be held at the Dods & McNair Funeral Home, Chapel & Reception Centre, 21 First St., Orangeville on Sunday, May 25th, 2025 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Words of remembrance will begin at 2:30 pm.
Memorial donations to High Country United Church (Camilla) or charity of choice would be appreciated by the family. A tree will be planted in memory of Marg at the Dods & McNair Memorial Forest in the Island Lake Conservation Area, Orangeville.
