Peacefully at Brightshores Health System – Owen Sound on Thursday, September 3, 2026. Born in Holland Township on October 9, 1937, Mae Adele Sutherland (nee Zettler) of Chatsworth was in her 89th year.

Beloved wife of the late Kenneth Sutherland. Loving mother of Darlene Kuhn (Jonathan) of Michigan, Marsha Thomas (Brian Rankin) of South Bruce Peninsula, Mary Ellen Miller (Steve) of Barrie, Ann Camp (Kevin) of Annan, and Judy Sutherland (Joel Smith) of Port Elgin. Cherished grandma of 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Mae will also be missed by her nieces, nephews and friends.

Predeceased by her parents Alex and Verna Zettler, by her sisters Mabel Pearce and Carol Danac (George), and by her siblings-in-law Ian Sutherland (Betty), Colin Sutherland (Carol), Ralph Sutherland, Helen Sutherland, and Agnes Bumstead (Walter).

Mae found her greatest joy in tending to the world around her, pouring her love into her beautiful flower gardens and the animals she cherished. Above all, her deepest devotion was to her family, who meant everything to her.

A come and go visitation to celebrate Mae’s life will be held at St. George’s Anglican Church Parish Hall, 1049 4th Ave. E., Owen Sound, on Saturday, September 12, 2026, from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service in the church at 1:30 p.m., officiated by Rev. Mark Loyal. Arrangements are entrusted to Brian E. Wood Funeral Home, Owen Sound, 519-376-7492.
