March 19, 1940 – February 1, 2026 – Original founder of MacDonnell Fuels
Peacefully at home on Sunday, February 1, 2026. Born in Southampton on March 19, 1940, Gary Edison MacDonnell of Owen Sound was in his 86th year.
Cherished friend of Anne Cameron. Proud father of Mary Jo Boisvert (Guy) of Chatsworth, and Steve MacDonnell (Deb) of Sauble Beach, and step-father of Ryan Cameron (Steph). Treasured grandfather of Starr Holman (Nick), Ernie MacDonnell (Madison) and Olivia Cameron and great-grandfather of Clio, Cruz and Callie. Dear brother of Robert MacDonnell (Marjorie). Gary will also be missed by his nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Predeceased by his beloved wife Mary Lou MacDonnell (nee Allison), his parents Donald and Hilda MacDonnell, his daughter Christine MacDonnell, his brother Donald MacDonnell (Freda) and his grandson Darquis Boisvert.
A funeral service to celebrate Gary’s life will be held at Shallow Lake United Church, 75 Cruickshank Street, Shallow Lake, Ontario, on Saturday, February 7, 2026 at 2:30 p.m., with visitation from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m., followed by a Masonic Lodge #436 from 2:00 – 2:30 p.m.. followed by a reception in the church hall. A private family interment will take place in Hillcrest Cemetery in the spring
