Peacefully at Southbridge Care Home on Sunday, November 2, 2025. Born in Owen Sound on September 3, 1936, Douglas Neil Carmichael of Owen Sound was in his 90th year.

Beloved husband for 65 years of Lorraine Carmichael (nee Steer) of Owen Sound.  Loving father of Jeffery Carmichael of Owen Sound.  Doug will also be missed by special nieces Cindy Flowers (Dan) and Tracey McComb (Brent) and many other nieces, nephews and friends.

Predeceased by his parents Neil and Lila Carmichael (nee Laycock), siblings: Twin sister Doris, Bruce and Earl.

Doug was a devoted employee of McArthur and Reilly for 47 yrs and was a track official operating the Pace Vehicle at Sauble Speedway for 32 years. For his dedication and services, he has been enshrined in the Sauble Speedway Hall of Fame in 2024.  In addition, Doug was a member of the Antique and Classic Snowmobile Club of Canada for over 30 yrs and participated in numerous vintage sled events throughout the United States, Quebec and Southern Ontario.

A graveside funeral service to celebrate Doug’s life will be held at Greenwood Cemetery, 190 1st St. S.W., Owen Sound, on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at 11:00 a.m.  Arrangements are entrusted to Brian E. Wood Funeral Home, Owen Sound, 519-376-7492.
