Called home to our Lord and reunited with his love Irene, on Saturday, August 15, 2026, in his 93rd year.

Beloved and devoted husband of the late Irene(nee Synnott) for 64 years. Loving father of Paul (Cindy) of Singhampton. Cherished grandfather of Matthew (Mikenna Stewart), Stephen (Mackenzie Wilson), and Jacob. He will be sadly missed by his sisters, Margaret (Jack) Winters and Anne (Arnold) Morwood, and his brother, Gordon (Gail) McQueen.

Predeceased by his parents, Sandy and Mabel, his brother, Donald (Doreen) McQueen and sisters-in-law, Willa Plewes and Shirley Holmes; and his brother-in-law, Gordon Synnott.

Doug was born and raised with his siblings, on the Family Homestead Farm north of Singhampton. He helped on the farm and eventually farmed with his brother Donald.

When he married Irene, he bought his parents farm on the 12th line of Osprey where they resided their whole married life. Irene was his best friend and partner; they went everywhere together. Their love was complete when Paul was born. Doug shared his love for farming with Paul.
Doug loved going to auctions, fairs and dances, socializing with his neighbours and friends.

When the grandchildren came, Doug shared his love of farming with them too, and they were his pride and joy. Doug was a hard worker and gentle man, he always had time to share a story or his insightful knowledge of years working the land. He was the salt of the earth, one-of-a-kind. He will be greatly missed by his family, and all who knew him.

The family will receive friends at Fawcett Funeral Cremation Reception, Flesherton, on Thursday, August 20th from 6:00–9:00 p.m. and again on Friday at the Osprey Community Centre, Feversham from 10:00-11:00am. Funeral service at the Osprey Community Centre, on Friday at 11:00 a.m. Interment at Singhampton Union Cemetery.
