Peacefully at Brightshores Health System – Owen Sound on Tuesday, September 1, 2026. Born in Eastnor Township on April 29, 1932, Allan Robert Roy Speirs of Chatsworth was in his 95th year.

Beloved husband of the late Frances Speirs (nee Smith). Loving father of Allan Speirs Jr. (Irma) of Chatsworth. Cherished grandpa of Tyler, and step grandpa of Trisha and Tammy. Great Grandpa of Ryan & Jax, Jessica & Amanda. Dear brother of Ruth Speirs of Chatsworth, and Sherrie MacKenzie of Wiarton. Allan will also be missed by his nieces, nephews and friends.

Predeceased by his parents James and Ethelene Speirs, and by his brother-in-law Tom MacKenzie.

As a young man in his early 20’s, Allan sailed the Great Lakes. After he sailed, he got a job with Mel Forbes Construction building Highway 69. The construction camp was on Burwash Prison Farm (south of Sudbury).

Allan lived on a farm raising beef cattle, and he could fix almost anything. He enjoyed his Harley motorcycle. For many years Allan undercoated vehicles and enjoyed talking to his customers.

He enjoyed travelling in his new R.V. with his wife Fran, towing their boat behind. Their favorite fishing spot was Bright Lake, where they could catch their very favourite pickerel. Then Fran would cook up a fabulous fish feast!!
Allan and Fran loved snowmobiling, heading out with sister Sherrie and Tom every weekend, making their own trails. That’s when we had real snow!

Family members enjoyed a very challenging game of crokinole. An extremely competitive atmosphere! Allan loved to listen to his wife Fran play the piano, outstandingly well. She played piano at local jams while Allan enjoyed the music and social opportunities. He also really enjoyed watching western movies. They had a brand-new house built, right beside their son Al Jr., to enjoy their retirement in.

Allan’s family wishes to extend a special thank you to all the staff at Summit Place for their wonderful care and compassion.

A come and go memorial visitation will be held at Brian E. Wood Funeral Home, 250 14th St. W., Owen Sound, 519-376-7492, on Friday, September 18, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations to Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
