Albert Nelson 'Bert' King

Peacefully at home on Wednesday, September 2, 2026. Born in Balaclava on July 6, 1928, Albert Nelson King of Annan was in his 99th year.
Beloved husband for 74 years of Margaret King (nee Whalen) of Annan. Loving father of Barbara King (Ed Muir) of Annan, and Brian King (Sue Downey) of Annan. Cherished grandpa of Michael (Angel), Mercedes (Casey), Kirby (Mathias) and Raegan. Proud great-grandpa of Myles, Weston, Talan, and Hayven. Bert will also be missed by his nieces, nephews, and friends.
Predeceased by his parents Charles and Florence King, and by his siblings Edith Connelly (Tom), Helen Chambers (Jack), Clifford King (Josephine) and Kenneth King (Margaret).
Bert lived a life full of joy, community, and adventure. A true country soul at heart, he loved life on the farm, peaceful countryside drives, and curling. He had a passion for the simple pleasures of life, whether he was playing cards, listening to music, attending church, enjoying happy hour, or passionately cheering on his beloved Toronto Blue Jays.
For Bert, life was best shared with his loving wife, Marg. The two were inseparable, always seen together at community dances and events, or heading out on their next great adventure. Together, they traveled all across Canada and the U.S. with their truck and trailer, creating a lifetime of memories. They also cherished their winters spent together in Florida and countless camping trips with family and friends.
Bert’s warm presence, love for fun, and friendly spirit will most certainly be missed by all who knew him.
Visitation will be held at Brian E. Wood Funeral Home, 250 14th St. W., Owen Sound, 519-376-7492, on Thursday, September 10, 2026, from 1:00 – 3:00 and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. A funeral service to celebrate Bert’s life will be held at the funeral home on Friday, September 11, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place in Annan Cemetery.
