A woman has been charged with public mischief after falsely reporting a shooting in Hanover.
It happened on Oct. 20. Hanover Police say they responded to a 911 call in the area of 10th Avenue and 10th Street after a woman reported gun shots were fired downtown, and she was struck by a stray bullet.
“Officers arrived within minutes and located the female, who continued to claim she had been shot and required an ambulance,” Hanover Police say in a release. “Following an investigation, officers determined there was no evidence of a shooting, injuries or an emergency.”
Police say the female was arrested and charged with public mischief, failure to comply with a release order and two counts of failure to comply with a probation order.
The accused was held for a bail hearing and then remanded into custody.
