The community is invited to a dedication ceremony for the new veterans commemorative crosswalk in Tara.
The Municipality of Arran-Elderslie and the Tara Legion Branch 383 are inviting everyone to attend on Monday, November 9th at 11 a.m. at the crosswalk at Yonge and Brook streets.
The crosswalk is red and white stripes with a silhouette of a soldier at the end.
It will be Veterans’ Week and organizers say it provides an opportunity for the community to come together in recognition of those who have served Canada and those who continue to serve today.
A joint statement from the legion and the municipality says, “The Veterans Commemorative Crosswalk was created as a lasting tribute to local veterans living in Arran-Elderslie, along with the countless men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice in service to Canada. The project serves as a visible reminder of the courage, dedication, and sacrifice of military personnel and their families.”
Gary Miller, President of Royal Canadian Legion Branch 383 says, “This crosswalk stands as a tribute to the veterans in our community and to all those who gave so much in service to our country. We are grateful to see their contributions recognized in a permanent and visible way, and we invite everyone to join us for this special dedication during Veterans’ Week.”
