Vlad Dravecky scored twice and had five points to help the Guelph Storm to a 10-5 win over the Owen Sound Attack in Ontario Hockey League action Saturday night at the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre.
Ryan Roobroeck also scored twice for Guelph (6-2), while Noah Jenken, Adrien Bartovic, Carter Stevens, Tyler Hopkins, Illia Shybinskyi and Jaakko Wycisk added singles.
The Storm won their sixth straight game.
Max Delisle scored twice for the Attack (2-6). Cole Zurawski, Jake Crawford and Pierce Mbuyi also had goals.
The Storm led 3-1 after the first. Owen Sound scored a pair of shorthanded goals within the first 1:30 of the second to tie the game 3-3. Then the Attack took their first and only lead of the game on a Mbuyi power play goal just over five minutes into the second, 4-3.
Guelph responded with pair — 5-4. Delisle then tied it 5-5.
Then the Storm took over. Three straight goals to take an 8-5 lead. And an offensive zone faceoff with 3.5 seconds left in the second period. They won it, worked it to Dravecky on the right side. He beat Leenders high to roll off Guelph’s fourth unanswered, making it 9-5.
That goal felt like the knockout punch. It also ended Ryerson Leenders’ night. Maksim Corovic came out to start the third for the Attack.
Ben Hrebik made 29 saves in the win, while Leenders stopped 21 taking the loss. Corovic stopped 15 of the 16 that came his way in the third period.
Guelph outshot Owen Sound 46-34 while going 3 for 6 on the power play; the Attack finished 2 for 6.
Next up for the Attack is a West Division road trip starting in Windsor next Friday, Oct. 16.
