Bruce Power’s supplier partners have donated $100,000 to support the Ronald McDonald House expansion in London.
The donation will help fund support for families with children who are going through medical treatment for illness and injury.
The Ronald McDonald House in London is currently undergoing an expansion from 40 bedrooms to 80, to allow the charitable organization to help more families at once.
It’s also the largest expansion in the chapter’s history.
Ronald McDonald House Southwestern Ontario also offers critical programs and essential services to families in need.
Ronald McDonald House SWO provides psychosocial support, home-cooked meals, laundry, a private bedroom, and a community of families facing the same reality.
Due to a lack of space, nearly 500 families were unable to stay at the Ronald McDonald House in London, which was a motivator for this expansion.
In a media release, the power company’s representative from Community and External Affairs, Maggie Tieman, said that Bruce Power’s supplier partners value the operating principle for Ronald McDonald House, which is that no family should have to choose between being at their child’s bedside, or having a place to sleep, eat, and hold themselves together.
The average family travels 400 kilometres to reach London for specialized pediatric care.
