Harvey Monkman passed away, surrounded by his loving family, at Chapman House on Sunday, September 27, 2026, in his 85th year.

Beloved husband of Helen Watson. Loving father of Darlene Monkman (Marc Carrier) of Ottawa, Maxine (Trevor) Scott of Orillia, Pauline (Justin) Fidler of Lucan, and Bill Monkman (Liz O’Mahoney) of Dobbinton. He will be dearly missed by Helen’s children, Tracey Watson, and Dennis (Laurie) Watson. Cherished grandfather of Ian (Chloe) and Eric Scott; Emma and Ainslie Fidler; Mac, Sawyer, and Ellie Monkman; and Emma and Abby Watson. Dear brother of Leslie Monkman (Susan Lederman) of Toronto and brother-in-law of Peggy Patterson, Beth (Wilson) Gregg, Brad Patterson, and Doug (Marion) Richards. Harvey will be fondly remembered by Sarah Monkman, as well as the Sinclair and Patterson relatives. He was predeceased by his brother-in-law Gerald Patterson.

Visitation will be held at Rhody Family Funeral Home, Chesley on Saturday, October 10, 2026, from 1 – 3 and 6 – 8 p.m. A memorial service celebrating Harvey’s life will be held at Tara United Church on Sunday, October 11, 2026, at 2 p.m. The service will be recorded and be available to view on Harvey’s page of the funeral home website in the days following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Brightshores Owen Sound Foundation, Canadian Foodgrains Bank, or Grey Bruce Hospice Inc. (Chapman House) would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
