October 20, 1933 – September 9, 2026

Peacefully, with family by her side, Joyce went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, September 9, 2026.

Loving wife for 64 years to the late William “Bill” Muzzy. Loving mother of Gordon Muzzy and his wife Dianne of Orangeville, Carol Peterson and her husband Doyle of Cochrane, AB, Robert Muzzy of Toronto. Remembered by her grandchildren Jennifer Muzzy, Nicole McAuley (Jamie), Christine Grills (Blake), Christopher Peterson, Eric Peterson (Carissa), Renée Drage (Caleb), and great-grandchildren, Elle and Evie McAuley, Lucy Grills and Boaz, William, Magnolia, Silas, Phoebe and Benjamin Peterson, and David, Stephen and Eliana Drage, and her sisters-in-law Doris Hayward, Owen Sound, ON, and Lois Hayward of Vancouver, BC, and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Predeceased by her parents, Gordon and Lillian Hayward (nee McIntosh), and her brothers Douglas and Harding Hayward.

Joyce enjoyed a full life, graduating from Canadian Bible College, raising their family, working as administrative assistant at law offices, an architectural firm, and the Hugh MacMillan Medical Centre in Toronto. In retirement, Joyce and Bill moved to the Bruce Peninsula, where they grew a hobby sawmill into a thriving small business. Many homes and cottages on “The Bruce” are accented with the cedar lumber from their mill. Her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends benefitted from her knitting of mitts, hats and sweaters.

A Special “Thank you” to the nurses of 4th floor and Dr. Hodgson for the compassionate care given to Joyce and her family.

A public visitation will be held at Brian E. Wood Funeral Home, 250 14th Street West, Owen Sound, 519-376-7492 on Saturday, September 26, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Private burial at Greenwood Cemetery in Owen Sound.
