Swimming advisories have been lifted for two popular beaches in the Grey Bruce region.
Grey Bruce Public Health says water samples were taken Thursday from Port Elgin Main Beach and Southampton Beach, and test results show bacterial levels are back within Ministry of Health guidelines for safe swimming.
The two beaches were posted as unsafe for swimming earlier this week, after routine water-testing showed high bacterial levels.
“We’d like to extend our appreciation to the residents and visitors who adhered to the swimming advisories,” says Senior Public Health Manager Chimere Okoronkwo in a release.
Grey Bruce Public Health operates a beach water monitoring program during the summer months to test the water at high-use beaches in Bruce and Grey counties for E. coli levels. You can find more on the health unit’s recreational water monitoring program here.
