Meaford Harbour will undergo dredging beginning Aug. 17 and running until mid-October.
Dredging is required because material builds up on the harbour bottom over time, making parts of the harbour shallower. Removing this material will improve safe boating access and support harbour operations.
In-water dredging can only occur during an approved environmental timing window to reduce impacts on fish, wildlife and the surrounding water.
Services including parking, vehicle and pedestrian routes, boat launch access, camping access, pavilion rentals and some harbour services may be temporarily impacted. The RV sanitary dump station is expected to be closed during the project.
Washrooms, the fish cleaning station, the harbour area, the boat launch, camping, pavilion rentals and most harbour services are expected to remain open, though access may be limited or adjusted at times.
