Meaford council will decide today on a plan to replace the central fountain at Lakeview Cemetery.
The fountain has been out of service for the past seven years due to a major water leak. In the spring of 2026, the stone surrounding the fountain was replaced with boxwood shrubs.
According to a staff report, concerns about fixing the current fountain have led to replacing the existing unit as the preferred option.
Staff indicate a new fountain can be installed in the existing location with no significant impact over the course of its estimated lifespan.
Staff are also developing a comprehensive 10-year capital plan for the cemetery that will include items such as fencing, tree replacements and signage.
Repairs to the entrance fountain began in May, including the removal of the old cement fountain and the installation of a new pond liner.
