The Owen Sound Attack have added a new associate coach.
The team announced on Thursday that it has hired Mike LaZazzera, who will also take on the role of Director of Player Development.
LaZazzera was previously the Director of Player Development for the men’s ice hockey team at Quinnipiac University, which was a position he held for two seasons.
In a media release from the Attack, LaZazzera said, “I am incredibly grateful and honoured for the opportunity to join the Owen Sound Attack.”
LaZazzera brings almost 40 years of coaching and player development experience to his new position.
He has previously worked for the NHL’s New York Islanders as a video coach, assistant coach for the Portland Pirates of the AHL, University of Main, and the Plymouth Whalers of the OHL.
He also served as Head Coach and General Manager of the Dubuque Fighting Saints of the USHL.
The veteran coach and Springfield, MA native also holds a Master’s degree in Athletic Counseling, and has completed a PhD in both Sport & Exercise Psychology and Leadership.
