Peacefully at Brightshores Health System – Owen Sound on Saturday, July 25, 2026. Born in Saskatchewan on April 17, 1938, James Alvin Gedckeof Owen Sound, was in his 89th year.

Beloved husband of the late Sharron Gedcke. Loving father of the late Robert Gedcke, Owen Gedcke (Debbie Loncke) of Owen Sound and Lee Ann Pierce (Donald Robert) of Windsor. Cherished grandpa of Matthew, Samantha, James (Carlie), Melanie (Dylan), Brandon (Savannah) and Rebecca. Dear brother of Austin Gedcke (Marie), Bonnie Carter and the late Carole Adam (Wallace). Proud uncle of Randy Jones, Rhonda Bradshaw, Darryl Jones, Joni Jones, Krista Henry (Darren), Tim Gedcke (Catherine), Josh Carter (Fawn), Alisha Porter (Matt), Carolyn Cordick (Jason), Joel Carter and the late Stephen Gedcke (Pam Keen) and their families. Alvin will also be missed by many friends.

Predeceased by his parents James and Thelma Gedcke, and by his siblings-in-law Marion Jones (Stan) and Barbara Westall.

In keeping with Alvin’s wishes, cremation is taking place. Arrangements are entrusted to Brian E. Wood Funeral Home, Owen Sound, 519-376-7492.
