Hanover police say an investigation into a report of an assault with a weapon has led to over a dozen charges.
Police say, on June 2nd, during the early morning hours, they received a report that a male was threatened with a knife by another man near the intersection of 10th Avenue and 9th Street in Hanover.
The investigation determined the two were not known to one another, but an argument started after one of them accused the other of stealing a power tool that he had in his possession.
Police say, the man walking with the power tool turned and confronted the other man, pointing a knife and threatened him before running off.
Through the investigation, investigators identified the knife wielding suspect.
Then on June 9th, an off-duty Hanover officer spotted the suspect near 12th Street and 9th Avenue and notified on duty police officers. The suspect was arrested without incident.
Officers recovered a knife, other weapons, a stolen Chilean passport, credit cards and other items that were believed stolen from vehicle entries in Hanover.
Police have charged 36-year-old of no fixed address with a total of 15 criminal charges including possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, possession of identity documents, possession of stolen credit cards, possession of property obtained by crime, and possession of a firearm contrary to a prohibition order.
