An Owen Sound man faces a list of charges after allegedly trying to flee police in Hanover during an arrest, and being found with a significant amount of illegal narcotics.
Hanover Police say officers responded to reports of a suspicious vehicle parked in the 100 block on 12th Avenue in the southern Grey County town this past Saturday (May 16).
Police say they located a man in the driver’s seat of a vehicle with its engine running, and allege the man became “uncooperative” when approached.
“As officers attempted to place the male under arrest, he resisted, attempted to flee on foot and assaulted officers before being taken into custody,” Hanover Police say in a release. “A conducted energy weapon was deployed during the arrest. No serious injuries were reported.”
Hanover Police say a search of the vehicle was conducted after the arrest, and more than $30,000 in illegal narcotics were found and seized. Police also confiscated cash and drug paraphernalia.
“The seized substances included suspect fentanyl, heroin, cocaine, methamphetamine, and hydromorphone pills,” police say.
A 47-year-old Owen Sound man faces several drug trafficking charges, as well as resist peace officer, assault peace officer and other offences.
The accused was remanded into custody after attending a bail hearing.
