Grey Bruce Public Health is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the owner of a dog involved in a biting incident in the Municipality of Grey Highlands.
The incident occurred around 7 p.m. on Friday, April 10, at Memorial Park on Sydenham Street in Flesherton, near the Grey Highlands Museum. A young girl was bitten by a dog described as a black-and-white border collie.
Officials say the dog was wearing a collar but was not accompanied by an owner at the time.
Public Health staff are working to locate the animal in order to confirm it is not infectious with rabies. Verifying the dog’s health could help the victim avoid undergoing post-exposure rabies treatment.
Anyone with information about the dog or its owner is asked to contact Grey Bruce Public Health at 519-376-9420, extension 1518.
