November 5, 1936 – April 3, 2026

Was called home to our Lord on Friday, April 3, 2026, in her 90th year. Beloved and devoted wife of Doug for 64 years. Loving mother of Paul (Cindy) of Singhampton. Cherished grandmother of Matthew (Mikenna Stewart), Stephen (Mackenzie Wilson), and Jacob. Predeceased by her parents, George and Pearl Synnott; her siblings Arthur Synnott, Willa Plewes, Gordon Synnott, and Shirley Holmes; and her brother-in-law Donald (Doreen) McQueen. She will be sadly missed by her sisters-in-law Margaret (Jack) Winters and Anne (Arnold) Morwood, and her brother-in-law Gordon (Gail) McQueen.

Irene (Synnott) was born and raised on a farm north of Stayner. Following her marriage to Doug, she moved to their farm north of Singhampton, in Osprey Township, where she remained for the rest of her life. She truly enjoyed farm life and took great pleasure in watching neighbours pass by (and lots of times joining her) on her porch.

For many years, Irene was an active member of the Collingwood Skating Club and Rob Roy United Church. She volunteered with the Georgian Triangle Hospice, the Heart and Stroke Foundation, and the Feversham Agricultural Society. Her love of music brought her and Doug to many dances and jamborees with friends, and shone brightly as she sang in the Rob Roy United Church Choir.Irene deeply loved her family and cherished every moment spent together. Her sweet smile and generous heart will be fondly remembered and missed by her many friends and all who knew her.

The family will receive friends at Fawcett Funeral Cremation Reception, Flesherton, on Thursday, April 9 from 6:00–9:00 p.m., and on Friday one hour prior to the service. A funeral service will be held at the Osprey Community Centre, Feversham, on Friday at 11:00 a.m. Interment at Singhampton Union Cemetery.
