Work is continuing to re-establish the Board of Health for the Grey Bruce Public Health Unit, according to an update from provincial special advisors.
The Province of Ontario, along with the Counties of Grey and Bruce, has moved forward with the process by concluding the terms of previous board members and beginning appointments using a jointly developed, skills-based selection matrix.
As of March 12, two provincial members have been appointed to the board—David Nusko and returning member Chad Richards. The province may appoint up to four additional members.
At the same time, Grey and Bruce Counties are proceeding with their own processes to appoint seven municipal representatives to the board.
Officials say they are encouraged by the progress and are looking forward to working with a fully reconstituted board once all appointments are complete.
In the interim, the Province says it continues to work closely with the Health Unit’s senior leadership team. Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Kieran Moore, is currently exercising the authority of the Board of Health under the Health Protection and Promotion Act.
Officials also thanked Health Unit staff and municipal partners for their continued collaboration and commitment to delivering essential public health services across the region.
