The Municipality of Brockton and project developer Edificio have announced significant progress on a new integrated food, retail, and fuel development at 2 Ontario Road in Walkerton.
The $3.85-million project will include a 5,900-square-foot McDonald’s quick-service restaurant, a 2,000-square-foot MacEwen convenience store, and a four-pump retail gas bar. Municipal officials say the development is designed to improve access to essential services while supporting continued economic growth in Brockton and the surrounding area.
When completed in late summer or early fall 2026, the site is expected to create approximately 15 part-time and full-time jobs for local residents. Construction is also providing work for local trades and suppliers.
Matthew Young, Senior Project Manager with Edificio, says the development will help address service gaps in the immediate area by bringing food, retail, and fuel services together in one convenient location. He adds that improved access to fuel and everyday essentials will reduce the need for residents to travel to neighbouring communities.
Mayor Chris Peabody describes the project as a meaningful investment in Brockton’s future, saying it strengthens the municipality’s commercial base while expanding essential services for residents and businesses.
Construction is currently in the excavation and site preparation phase. All required building and foundation permits have been secured, and the project remains on schedule for completion in late summer 2026.
