The province’s Special Investigations Unit has ended its probe of incident in Owen Sound last year that left a man injured.
A news release from the SIU says a 23-year-old man was arrested in the early morning of Nov. 22, 2025, after Owen Sound Police were contacted by a staff member at the man’s assisted living facility for help with a “mental health emergency.”
“During this incident, the man walked to a side porch, where he climbed the handrail and either jumped or fell to the ground below,” the SIU says in a statement. “The man was taken to hospital and reportedly diagnosed with a fractured wrist.”
The SIU says parts of the incident were captured on video and the footage was reviewed. They also tried to speak with the man involved about the incident, but say those efforts were unsuccessful.
“The available video evidence showed that the officers were approximately 50 to 60 metres away from the man at the time of his fall. In these circumstances, there was no basis to pursue potential criminal liability, and the file has been closed,” the release from the SIU explains.
