Grey County Emergency Medical Services met or exceeded response time targets so far this year, while call volumes, and patient volumes are up.
A report by Director of Paramedic Services Kevin McNab to Grey County Council’s Committee of the Whole on Thursday, September 11th says in the first half of 2025, call volumes have risen by 8 per cent compared to the same period in 2024.
Over the past five years, patient call volumes have risen nearly 30 per cent.
In the first half of 2025, there were 8,259 calls compared to 7,624 during the same period in 2024, an increase of 635 calls or 8.3 per cent.
McNab’s report says in 2024, total patient call volumes reached 15,796, which was 4.23 per cent higher than 2023, making it the busiest year on record.
McNab says they continue to meet their response time targets even though call volume is going up and will keep the those same time targets.
Meanwhile, Grey County is working to increase the number of defibrillators available in the area, which are used to help when someone experiences sudden cardiac arrest. There are over 200 automated external defibrillators located throughout the County.
