Douglas Howard 'Doug' Burk

Doug Burk passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of his family, at the Meaford Hospital on Tuesday, August 12, 2025 in his 93rd year.
Born in Shelburne on March 11, 1933, Doug was the son of the late Howard and Sylvia (nee Irwin) Burk.
He will be missed by his loving wife of 41 years, Susan (nee Mothersell) Burk.
Doug was the treasured father of Daryl (Mary), Deb (Dan), John (Colleen), Dale (Vicki), Janet (Tim), and Scott, and dear step-father of Rudy, Michelle (Rob), and Sonya (Steve). He was the proud grandpa of Ashley, Allison, Andrew, Jennifer, Jason, Teryl, Dawson, Sienna, Arlo, Ryland, Kara, and great grandfather of Dorian, Peyton, Vincent, Blake, Dani, Brody, Cohen, Taelum, Hayden, Nora, Beck, Finn, Morgan, Mattie, Michaela, Kendra, Natasha, Jason Jr., and Emerise. He was predeceased by Will and Ellie. Doug was the much-loved brother of Geraldine Little (late Murray), and was predeceased by his sister Marjorie Stringer (late John). He will be remembered fondly by many nieces and nephews.
Doug was the well-known owner of Burk Electric in Meaford for many years. He enjoyed hunting, camping, fishing, music, and loved coaching hockey and baseball. Doug had an interesting sense of humour and looked forward to sharing stories and jokes with his friends. He was a proud member of the “Georgian Beach Gentleman”. He will certainly be missed but will never be forgotten.
Doug’s family will receive friends for visitation at the Ferguson Funeral Home in Meaford on Thursday, August 21, 2025 from 5 until 8 p.m. A graveside service will be conducted at the Shelburne Cemetery on Friday, August 22, 2025 at 11 o’clock.
