Saugeen Shores police are sharing the outcome of their Move Over Law enforcement campaign.
Police say in a Facebook post, from February 27th to March 3rd, officers conducted active enforcement of the Provincial “Move Over Law’.
The law requires drivers to slow down and move over when passing an emergency vehicle or tow truck stopped roadside with emergency lights on. It also requires motorists to pull over and stop when being overtaken or approaching a moving emergency vehicle with emergency lights illuminated, if safe to do so.
In the five days of the enforcement campaign, officers stopped at least 43 vehicles for other violations, but they note, during these vehicle stops, no violators of the “Move Over Law” were observed by officers.
They say, “Thank you Saugeen Shores for helping to keep our paramedics, fire fighters, tow operators and police safe.”
