The Meaford Scarecrow Invasion and Family Festival is making its return to celebrate 25 years.
The event executive has announced plans to proceed with the annual scarecrow displays, parade, and festival.
The theme for this year is celebrating 25 years, and provided all goes according to plan, the scarecrows will be placed throughout downtown Meaford.
The scarecrows will begin their invasion early in September, with the date for the parade and festival set for Sept. 30.
Event Chair Donna Earl says it is time to bring some joy back into our communities.
“However, we can’t do it without volunteers,” says earl. “Before we go any further with our plans, we need to know that there are individuals who will be available for a few hours in May and June to build scarecrows, to pick corn stalks in September, or help with the children’s activities during the festival. For anyone who can offer even more of their time, there are committee positions to fill and scarecrow displays to create.”
Earl adds there are many tasks to be done for the event, some requiring a few hours a week for a few weeks in the spring and others not until September.
A list of volunteers that are needed has been posted on the Scarecrow Invasion website.
