Bruce Power and its supplier partners have donated $100,000 to the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada to mark Brain Tumour Awareness Week.
“Bruce Power is proud to support the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada and the important work it does for patients and families facing a brain tumour diagnosis,” says Maggie Tieman, Bruce Power’s director of community and external affairs. “Through our production of cancer-fighting medical isotopes, we recognize the importance of supporting organizations that advance research and provide patients and families with the resources and support they need.”
The donation will support the foundation’s efforts to provide children and families affected by brain tumours with resources and opportunities to connect with others facing similar challenges, while also contributing to research aimed at improving patient outcomes.
“We are incredibly grateful to Bruce Power and its supplier partners for their generous $100,000 donation and their commitment to making a difference in the lives of Canadians affected by brain tumours,” says Nicole Farrell, chief executive officer of the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada. “A brain tumour diagnosis can change a family’s life in an instant, and no one should face that journey alone. This meaningful investment will help us provide vital support, information and resources to patients and families, while advancing research that brings us closer to better treatments and, ultimately, a cure.”
Brain Canada conducts research in a wide variety of areas, including ALS, epilepsy, brain cancer, women’s brain health, mental health, Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias, and brain injury. Canada ranks among the top five countries in the world in brain research, publishing 6.4 per cent of global brain research articles.
