The Sharecrow tour is up and running in Saugeen Shores.
It’s a volunteer-led food drive manned by homemade scarecrows around the community.
Participants all over town are listed on a downloadable by donation map online this year.
Founder Cheryl ‘Crow’ says, “We invite everybody to go out and take a tour. It’s like a scavenger hunt. We ask you to take some non-perishable food items, and as you find your favourite displays, leave them a treat. They all have plastic bins of some sort beside them.”
The sharecrow displays will be collecting donations for local food banks until the 31st.
There will be Chantry Island Chambettes dressed up as sharecrows at each entrance to the Fairy Lake trick-or-treat in Southampton to take donations on October 31st from 4 to 6 p.m.
Then on November 1st, all are welcome to the boathouse to drop off donations including gift cards, cash or cheques as well as non-perishable food.
The Sharecrows food drive just received an Innovation Business of the Year award, nominated locally and judged by chambers of commerce around Ontario, at the Saugeen Shores Chamber of Commerce’s Business Excellence Awards event.
