Plot sales are suspended at a township-owned cemetery in Georgian Bluffs, and officials aren’t saying why.
Georgian Bluffs “temporarily suspended” sales at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in September, and the township’s Chief Administrative Officer Ryan Thompson says they aren’t expected to resume this year.
The cemetery continues to operate normally otherwise, and Thompson assures it will moving forward. But he wouldn’t reveal why plot sales are paused.
“We’re not at liberty to really disclose what has caused the temporary stoppage of sales,” Thompon says.
Thompson says the township is encouraging people who have questions about the purchase of plots at Mount Pleasant Cemetery to contact the clerk’s department.
“People who have purchased plots, they can certainly call the clerk for confirmation,” Thompson says. “But, for those people that have plots (already), services have gone ahead uninterrupted.”
