The Grey Bruce OPP have charged a Brampton resident following an incident involving a construction flagger in Grey Highlands.
On Sept. 14 at approximately 3:44 p.m., Grey Bruce OPP received a report of a construction flag person being threatened while working on Toronto Street in Markdale.
The flag person was directing traffic in an active construction zone as work continued on Toronto Street. The investigation revealed that a motorist who had been stopped in traffic became increasingly agitated while waiting. The individual exited their vehicle on multiple occasions and approached the flag person to complain about the delay.
During the interactions, the individual’s behaviour escalated, and threats of harm were directed toward the flag person.
“A 31-year-old from Brampton has been charged with uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm and obstructing a peace officer,” says Provincial Constable Kody Lyons.
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on Dec. 10.
