Artists in Grey and Bruce counties are gearing up to open their studios to the public this fall.
From Oct. 4 to 6, the free, family-friendly, self-guided tour has grown to 15 studios featuring 26 artists showcasing their work, practices, and inspiration. A rigorous selection process ensures the tour offers a varied selection of high-quality artwork.
Unlike a gallery setting, visiting an artist’s studio gives visitors a richer sense of how art is made: what inspires the creator, the tools they use, and the time and detail that go into every piece.
From functional pottery and glass to painting and sculpture, there is plenty to explore. This year’s tour includes glassblowing, jewellery, ceramics, metalwork, wood, painting, furniture, photography, and fibre art. Most studios are wheelchair accessible.
The tour continues to inspire all ages and funds a monetary award for three regional high schools to present to chosen students: John Diefenbaker Senior School in Hanover, Grey Highlands Secondary School in Flesherton, and Wellington Heights Secondary School in Mount Forest.
