A deputy mayor candidate in Meaford has been acclaimed, after the municipality accepted additional nominations today.
A news release issued by the municipality Wednesday afternoon says one nomination was received during the extended nomination period, and certified by the clerk.
“The nominee for the office of the Deputy Mayor has been acclaimed,” the release from the municipality of Meaford says.
Current Meaford Coun. Rob Uhrig was the lone candidate to file for the deputy mayor position in Meaford during the extended nomination period, and has been subsequently acclaimed to the position.
Uhrig had his initial nomination papers — filed ahead of last Friday’s deadline — rejected due to issues with some endorsements, which were cleaned up and re-submitted Wednesday.
