School buses will be on the road when students return to classrooms in Grey Bruce next month.
The Bluewater District School Board and Bruce-Grey Catholic District School Board issued a joint statement Thursday saying: “We are glad to confirm in agreement in principle has been reached, and student transportation will proceed as normal for the start of the school year in September.”
The board says in an update on its website, “For several months, Bluewater District School Board, Bruce-Grey Catholic District School Board, and Shared School Services have been negotiating with our local bus operators to reach a renewed transportation agreement, in close cooperation with the Ministry of Education. Throughout this process, we worked to balance the cost pressures facing operators with our responsibility to manage public funds responsibly.”
The board also noted in its update, “We recognize the uncertainty this situation may have caused, and we appreciate families’ continued patience.”
The board says “Families are asked to complete all standard back-to-school transportation steps as soon as possible, including logging in to Edulog. The most important step is to opt in for transportation for each child. Students will not be assigned to a bus route unless this step is completed.”
