The Kincardine and Community Health Care Foundation raised $305,013 during its annual Giving Cruise Day, including $205,013 donated directly by the community and more than 100% of available matching funds unlocked during the July 31 Cruise Night.
This year’s Giving Cruise Day began with a generous $50,000 matching challenge from local families Wayne and Janet Palmateer and Dotty McClelland. Their leadership inspired remarkable momentum – and that momentum grew even stronger when John and Diane Satosek stepped forward during the event itself to increase the match total to $100,000.
The foundation surpassed the full match and reached a record-setting annual Giving Cruise Day with $305,013 in support of the Kincardine hospital expansion and Bruce County’s first MRI.
“We were overwhelmed by the support,” says capital campaign co-chair Graham Mahood. “It was truly special to meet so many donors face-to-face – people who care deeply about strengthening health care close to home.”
The foundation has taken a major step toward funding the local share of the hospital expansion and MRI, two transformational projects that will improve access to care for thousands of patients annually.
