The Municipality of Kincardine is encouraging residents to conserve water during maintenance for the intake line this week.
From July 27th until August 1st, the municipality will be doing the scheduled maintenance on the Raw Water Intake Line.
The project involves replacing the chlorination line that runs from the Water Treatment Plant to the beginning of the raw water intake line approximately 750 metres into Lake Huron.
Crews and divers will be working at the intake, and reducing water usage will help to mitigate demand on the system.
According to Kincardine’s department of Environmental Services, the line disperses chlorine while the plant is operating, in order to prevent zebra mussel growth around and inside the intake line.
Residents can help by limiting outdoor watering, postponing laundry and dishwasher usage until the evening, taking shorter showers, and delaying non-essential water use until after 5 p.m.
