It’s going to be hot and humid this week.
Environment Canada has issued a heat warning for the Grey Bruce region, saying a multi-day heat event begins today and could continue through Wednesday evening or Thursday.
Humidex values approaching 40 degrees celsius are expected.
“Tuesday will mark the peak of this heat event,” Environment Canada says in its warning.
The national weather forecaster says caution should be exercised during extreme heat events.
“Take action to protect yourself and others – extreme heat can affect everyone’s health. Determine if you or others around you are at greater risk of heat illness. Check on older adults, those living alone and other at-risk people in-person or on the phone multiple times a day,” Environment Canada’s warning explains. “Watch for the early signs of heat exhaustion in yourself and others. Signs may include headache, nausea, dizziness, thirst, dark urine and intense fatigue. Stop your activity and drink water.”
