Shallow Lake is the place to be this coming weekend.
The Township of Georgian Bluffs is hosting its annual Longest Day of Play event at Shallow Lake Arena on June 21.
The main event this year is the first-ever Longest Day of Play youth road hockey tournament, where teams and individuals can register to play in a round-robin tournament for prizes and bragging rights.
There are two designated age groups – ages seven to nine and ages 10 to 12 – but the township encourages all ages to come out and participate.
Participants must bring a helmet, a stick and appropriate protective gear. Youth and teams interested in playing in the tournament are encouraged to fill out a registration form on the township website.
Other activities include inflatable games, face painting, a craft table and Just Dance. The Inter-Township Fire Department will also be on-site, giving kids a chance to meet firefighters and even shoot a fire hose. This year, parents can also enjoy a café stand by Shallow Lake’s Blended Brew Co.
Festivities will begin at 12 p.m. and wrap up around 4 p.m.
