Saugeen Shores police have charged seven people after responding to a weapon related call.
Police say on Wednesday, June 3rd they responded to a weapon related incident in the 500 block of Market Street in Port Elgin.
According to police, while on scene speaking to people, officers noticed evidence of drug possession.
As a result several people on scene were arrested for possession of a controlled substance.
A search warrant was applied for by the criminal investigation unit and granted for a residential property later that afternoon.
Police say, as a result of the initial report and the conclusion of the search warrant the following people have been charged:
46-year-old woman of no fixed address
42-year-old man of no fixed address
39-year-old man of Saugeen Shores
32-year-old woman of Saugeen Shores
25-year-old woman of Saugeen Shores
25-year-old man of Saugeen Shores
22-year-old man of no fixed address
Police say they have all been charged with three counts of possession of a controlled substance.
The 39-year old man has also been charged with possession of a weapon for dangerous purposes, failure to comply with probation order and assault with a weapon.
The 38-year-old man has also been charged with obstruct peace officer.
The 25-year-old man has also been charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.
All seven people were held in custody for a bail hearing. Six accused were released, while the 25-year-old man was remanded into custody pending a future court date.
Police add, “This investigation is ongoing and further charges are pending.”
