The U19 Shute Optometry Girls Field Lacrosse put together an impressive home weekend, earning back-to-back victories with strong offensive performances and solid team play.
In Game 1, the North Stars opened the weekend with a dominant 7-1 victory. The team came out with energy and controlled the pace throughout the game, generating offensive pressure and capitalizing on their scoring opportunities. Goals were scored by Ally Scott, Ella McCoubrey, Ryann Seaman, Caitlin Tran, Avery Thompson, and Willow Smith Spinney, with one additional goal rounding out the seven-goal performance. Defensively, the North Stars were equally impressive. Goaltender Kyla Johnson was outstanding between the posts, recording three shutout quarters and making key saves whenever called upon. Strong defensive play from Addi McCoubrey, Grace Smith, Eva Sword, and Callie Sarvis helped limit quality scoring chances and kept the opposition on their heels throughout the game. The team’s commitment at both ends of the field helped secure the convincing win.
The North Stars carried that momentum into Game 2, defeating Beaches 13-4 in another strong showing. Ryann Seaman led the offensive attack with five goals, while Hannah Davies and Avery Thompson each added two goals. Single markers came from Katie Marshall, Caitlin Tran, Cali Hill, and Willow Smith Spinney. One of the highlights of the game came in the closing seconds when Willow Smith Spinney found the back of the net with a buzzer-beater goal, sending the North Stars into celebration and putting an exclamation point on an outstanding offensive performance. Once again, the defensive unit played a major role in the victory. Addi McCoubrey, Grace Smith, Eva Sword, and Callie Sarvis were steady and dependable throughout the game, consistently disrupting offensive opportunities, winning loose balls, and helping transition play up the field. The team displayed excellent ball movement, unselfish play, and relentless effort throughout the weekend.
