The municipality of Arran-Elderslie is mourning the passing of former Councillor Doug Bell.
They say in a statement, “It is with deep sadness that the Municipality of Arran-Elderslie announces the passing of Douglas Bell, a dedicated member of Council for three terms and a long-time municipal staff member prior to his retirement in 2004.”
He was in his 87th year.
Bell first took office as the Chesley Ward Councillor in 2010, serving three terms until 2022.
Mayor Steve Hammell says in a statement, “Doug dedicated his life to serving the people of Chesley and Arran-Elderslie,” adding, “He was passionate about healthcare, a committed volunteer, and he will be deeply missed.”
The flag at the municipal office has been lowered in his honour.
